Intel Hybrid Architecture Explained

Introduced alongside their 12th generation of processors, Intel has enhanced their innovative hybrid CPU architecture for 14th Gen. Simply put, these CPUs feature two types of cores, the Performance (P-core), and the Efficient Cores (E-core)

• The P-core has been built from the ground up to excel in single-threaded, high-frequency applications. P-cores handle the majority of the workload and leverage enhanced frequency management while maximising performance capabilities.
• The E-core is designed to manage less important background tasks, distributing lighter workloads across numerous cores and threads, allowing for greater efficiency. E-cores are also built to reduce power consumption when performance cores are not required.

Intel Thread Director manages both the E- and P-cores, intelligently optimising the use of both, instead of your computer's operating system deciding which tasks go to which cores. This hardware feature takes the guesswork out of task assignments and leads to a noticeable improvement in both efficiency and performance.

Raptor Lake Architecture:

Alongside their significant boost in performance, Intel 14th Gen processors also bring with them improvements to the Raptor Lake architecture.
